Female scarabs use their antenna’s to roll dung into balls.
These balls are used as brood chambers, where eggs are laid and hatched.
Egyptians believed that babies beetles spontaneously emerged from these balls, thus becoming a symbol of the heavenly cycle of rebirth and regeneration.
Although featured in the Egyptian Book of the Dead, scarab amulets were typically worn by the living, representing a significant portion of Egyptian art.
